Projects with Unique Challenges

TSC has been in business for more than two decades, providing site safety management services to more than 1,000 projects. All the projects we have worked on pose different challenges. Some projects involve transportation hubs, bridges, tunnels, airports, hospitals, and more. We also have been involved with iconic NYC landmark projects like Madison Square Garden, Javits Center, 42nd Street Library, Bryant Park, Bank of America Tower, and currently Hudson Yards.

These projects are beneficial to the growth of New York City’s infrastructure and culture. One of the organizations we are a part of, the New York Building Congress, is dedicated to the goal of growing the construction industry in New York. Their 2019 Policy Agenda can be found here.

Hearst Tower

Hearst Tower was the first skyscraper to break ground in NYC after 9/11, making it an iconic project. Because the original structure was designated a landmark site, the original cast stone façade had to be preserved in the new tower addition that was completed nearly 80 years later.

One WTC

One WTC was a significant project because it was a part of the redevelopment of downtown Manhattan. Providing safety management services to the team that helped to build the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere was an incredible accomplishment for Total Safety Consulting.

Whitehall Ferry Project

TSC’s involvement in the Whitehall Ferry Project was notable. We provided safety oversight for the Whitehall Ferry Reconstruction and Peter Minuit Plaza. This project was particularly challenging because it involved the demolition of an active transportation hub. The Staten Island Ferry maintained full operations during the project to ensure uninterrupted service for the 60,000 commuters and tourists who use the ferry each day. Total Safety Consulting was responsible for assisting in the development of the logistics and health and safety plan. We also provided safety oversight throughout the duration of the project. The project was completed with statistics for safety and health being above the industry average.
